We woke up (too) early for a flight to Siem Reap in Cambodia. The city would be our base camp to visit Angkor, the ancient former capital of the Khmer Empire. We googled "where to stay in Siem Reap" and found really good reviews for a four-star hotel perfectly located. So we booked it.
After checking in at the Bopha Residence, we wandered around this neighbourhood of Siem Reap. The city was bursting with life. We stumbled upon a supermarket selling French and Belgian products. We went crazy. In minutes, we bought Belgian beers, "Côte d'Or" chocolate, French baguette, cheese... We rushed to our hotel room to indulge ourselves in a gargantuesque "Comme à la Maison" (like home) meal. Damn, that was good not to eat rice ;-)
With a full belly, we set off for a food-digesting walk. We pass by the night market but could not eat another bite. Shame the food looked delicious. Another day maybe. Now it was time to sleep.
Where to stay in Siem Reap?
Ideally located in the heart of Siem Reap's city centre, just a short walk from Pub Street or the old markets, the authentic resort Bopha Residence boasts a year-round outdoor pool and sun terrace.
The staff was really friendly, polite and helpful. They make us feel comfortable as soon as we checked in. They arranged a free taxi pickup from the airport which was quite far away! We were very late but still; the driver waited for us.
The air-conditioned room painted in neutral palettes were equipped with a clean and private bathroom. We were lucky to have a seating area to relax in after a busy day visiting the Angkor temples.
The delightful breakfast and we could pick from a small menu. We can't recommend the immaculate first class Bopha Residence enough. They excelled in their hospitality and the quality of the room and facilities.
