After three days trekking from Kalaw, we pampered ourselves at the Inle Resort and Spa. The location of the hotel was perfect on the Lake and only 11 kilometres from Nyaungshwe that you could reach by bicycle or tuk-tuk.
As it was already late - yeah we enjoyed too much the comfortable beds and refreshing swimming pool - we set off in a tuk-tuk to get a last beer with Jonathan and Lisa, the French couple we met during our trek. We ended up finishing 4 bottles of Myanmar beer.
Around 8 pm, they left us to continue their trip to Bagan, and we walked towards the restaurant they had recommended us, Paw Paw's. The menu wasn't large, but the food was excellent. Moreover, the dishes were prepared by underprivileged kids working on a program to develop their skills and confidence. We fully recommend this place!
We were lucky with the timing of our visit as it fell right during a festival held for the first time in town. Tribes from nearby villages were coming for the night to demonstrate their skills at singing, dancing and performing on stage. Nyaungshwe centre was busting with parades and people flocking to admire the show.
