Bangkok to Chiang Rai

After relaxing by the roof-top swimming pool, it was time for us to say goodbye to Bangkok. We headed to the airport, with the handy Grab application, for our early afternoon flight back to Chiang Rai.

Today, after one year of mourning, Thailand was paying tribute and farewell to the "Father of the Nation", His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Everywhere, people were dressed in black as a sign of respect for their beloved king. Some have worn no colours since the death of the former king, a man revered as a demigod, on October 13, 2016.We sat at the airport, watched the celebration of the world’s longest-reigning monarch and finally boarded our Air Asia plane. Before landing, we were greeted with a rainbow.
