The Kecak Fire and Trance Dance is one of Bali's most iconic traditional performances. Created in the 1930s, it draws from the ancient Ramayana epic and features a circle of over 50 bare-chested men rhythmically chanting "cak-cak-cak" while swaying in unison — their voices replacing any musical instruments.

What to Expect

As the sun sets, the performers gather in a circle around a towering flame. The dramatic retelling of the Ramayana unfolds through dance, chanting, and fire — with a trance sequence where a performer walks barefoot over burning coconut husks.
