For our last day in Xi'an, we ticked off one of the main Xi'an attractions: Giant Wild Goose Pagoda. The ancient building is well-preserved and a holy place for Buddhists.

Journey to the Pagoda

As it was raining, we took the metro to the historical site. By (a lucky) mistake, we got off too early and ended up in a massive shopping mall. It was evident we would be late to admire the pagoda. We are not shopping addicts, but we enjoy wandering in the food section and exploring all the products they are selling. We bought some essentials for the road but nothing too fancy.

The Giant Wild Goose Pagoda

The Giant Wild Goose Pagoda was a delight for the eyes. The park and the fountains bordering the pagoda made it even more attractive.

Farewell to Xi'an

Our time in Xi'an was coming to an end. We were tired but we couldn't leave Xi'an without a last stroll through the Muslim Quarter. After all, the Muslim Quarter is the only neighbourhood within the city wall that is still original. It might have been our last chance to see it like this before new developments take over.

First Sleeper Train

After saying farewell to that unique market, we headed back to our hostel to get ready for our first sleeper train. With chaotic traffic around the train terminal, we collected - but not without some stress - our tickets and checked in through security. Finally, our train was ready to board and everyone moved toward the cars.

So did we sleep well? Wait until tomorrow to know more about our experience in the Chinese sleeper train.
