About This Experience
New Zealand is the birthplace of commercial bungee jumping, and Queenstown is its undisputed capital. In 1988, AJ Hackett made the first commercial bungee jump from the Kawarau Bridge — a historic suspension bridge 43 metres above the turquoise Kawarau River. Today, it remains one of the most iconic adventure activities in the world.
What to Expect
After being harnessed and weighed, you walk to the edge of the bridge platform. Below, the Kawarau River rushes through its rocky gorge. The countdown begins and then — you jump. The freefall, the bounce, the rush of adrenaline — it's over in seconds but the feeling lasts forever. You can choose to touch the water or stay dry.
Practical Tips
- The Kawarau Bridge site is about 20 minutes from Queenstown centre

- All jumps include a certificate and optional video/photo package
- No experience needed — staff guide you through every step
- Weight limits apply — check the operator's website before booking
